This nostalgic play, set in the summer of 1953, delightfully recalls the last time the Hines family gathered at their retreat in the Poconos. The gathering brings romantic entanglements that coalesce one idyllic afternoon; Burt Hines, mid-50’s and convalescing from a second heart attack, eagerly anticipates the arrival of the ex-wife he still loves. Daughter Josie has just broken her engagement to a Harvard law student and pines for his buddy Ray, an aspiring writer with whom she once had a brief fling. Clemma, the housekeeper at the center of the action casts an astute eye on the complications while facing her own unresolved past. Romantic complications ensue in a funny, touching story of loyalty, honesty, and forgiveness, all done with the graceful touch of Neil Simon’s legendary wit.

“The Simon wit and humor are very much in evidence, but the outdoor setting immediately establishes a mellow and magical atmosphere …”

“We meet people we'd swear we know; their problems, big and small, seem like our own. Somehow, this makes us laugh, often and a lot.”
