A grown-up story about growing up!

 

When his parents get divorced and he’s forced to move from New York to a small town in Indiana, Evan Goldman just wants to make friend s and survive the school year; easier said than done.

 

The star quarterback is threatening to ruin his life and his only friend, Patrice, won’t talk to him.  The school freak sees an opportunity to blackmail and someone is spreading the nastiest rumors.

 

With an unforgettable rock score from Tony Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown, “13” is a hilarious, high-energy musical for all ages about discovering that cool is where you find it, and sometime where you least expect it.

About the Director

Ashley’s acted with numerous companies nationally including PCPA Theatrefest, Glendale Centre Theatre, Utah Shakespearean Festival and she grew up here at the Norris Theatre.  Some favorite productions include Into The Woods (The Bakers Wife), As You Like It (Phebe), Nunsense (Sister Robert Anne), A Chorus Line (Diana Morales), Honk (Maureen, Queenie, etc.), Out Town (Stage Manager), and Louis Prima’s The Wildest (Marie).  She has worked in direction and choreography on productions with INTIMAN Theatre, PCPA Theatrefest, The Negri Learning Center and Cornerstone Theatre Company.  She serves as an artist representative on the board of Inside Out Community Arts.  Inside Out works with underserved youth from all over Los Angeles, using the arts to build self-esteem and greater individual and inter-cultural awareness.  Ashley is the director of the Acting Army formerly known as Theatre Dynamics Company.  The Acting Army will be touring middle schools in the South Bay later this year performing their original play created by the teens involved. Ashley is also currently producing documentary style industrial films such as The Negri: A Dream Realized, Nike: Back My Block, and FIGMENT: NYC for the participatory arts festival. Ashley looks forward to returning to the Norris Center to direct 13 The Musical and the Musical Theatre Boot Camp for summer 2010   

About the Choreographer

 

Michael Jenkinson is a graduate of the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts (PCPA Theaterfest) class of 1999. For the past 5  years, Michael has been fortunate enough to return to PCPA as a  Resident Artist. At PCPA Michael has teaches movement 1, musical theatre styles, and musical theatre ensemble, as well as acting, choreographing, and directing for the company. 

As an Actor Michael has worked regionally for, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, Delaware Theatre Company, North Shore Music Theatre, Gateway Playhouse, Oregon Cabaret Theatre, TheatreWorks, Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Sierra Repertory Theatre, Sacramento Theatre Company and SRT Santa Rosa. Michael spent two years "on the road" with national touring companies of Grease, starring Frankie Avalon ,and Fame the musical. Internationally Michael has traveled to Macua China, to perform Grease as a part of the Macau International Arts Festival, and Souel Korea to serve as Dance Supervisor on the Korean tour of Fame the musical. Michael currently works as the Resident Choreographer for The Great American Melodrama. 

Upcoming projects include, Malcolm in Macbeth, Choreographing and playing Aaron Fox in Curtains, Directing and Choreographing West Side Story. Michael is a proud member of Actors Equity Association.
