Imagination Theatre (HJNP)

This class introduces young students to the world of theatre as a world of organized make believe. It draws upon children’s natural love of storytelling and translates it into a theatrical experience. This class is entirely process driven and applies no pressure to perform a rehearsed product but rather focuses on self esteem building and group work. Through theatre games, movement exercises, pantomime and improvisation students will discover and continue to explore the exciting and fun world of acting.

Acting for Teens (HJNP)

In this class we will explore how movement, voice, and text are intricately intertwined in any piece of theatre. We will use various exercises to get the students aware, comfortable, and confident in their own bodies. With tests, auditions, and dance classes there can be a lot of pressure for kids to succeed. Through games, modern-based dance, improvisation, and storytelling we will explore what it is to play on stage together; while learning effective tools to make any theatre process a more fun and successful one. Our ten-week session will culminate in an original performance created by, with, and for our students, performed for friends and family. (Maximum of 15 students).

Young actors will also learn a physical acting technique called Contact Improvisation. This technique teaches the young actor to use their body in harmony with their speaking voice and promotes listening and responding to fellow actors within a scene.
