Check order forms for exact dates and times.A Midsummer Night’s Dream is an enduring story about love, mistaken identity and magic. Hermia’s father demands that she marry Demetrius or face the law and choose between death or a nunnery. Hermia and the man she loves, Lysander, escape into the woods. Hermia’s friend, Helena, abandoned by Demetrius but still in love with him, tells Demetrius of the two lovers’ flight from Athens. Meanwhile, in another part of the forest, Oberon, king of the fairies, fights with his queen, Titania, over a young human prince and a long history of marital infidelity. Through Oberon’s meddling and the infamous Puck’s discovery of a plant that induces love at first sight, the characters fall into and out of love with the wrong people, with confusing and amusing results.

While her siblings both have proof “up on the fridge” of their accomplishments, poor Edwina has nothing. When a talent scout from the convention visits, Edwina trots out her “musical advice,” performing shows live from the family garage in hopes of finding her place in the spotlight. Accompanied by her older siblings and a quirky host of friends and neighbors, she tackles the world’s problems in hysterical numbers about everything from birthday party etiquette to the proper way to set a table.

Charity sings, dances, laughs and cries her way through romances with the “animal magnetism” hero, the “ultra-chic continental” hero, and the “impossible-to believe-but-he’s-better-than-nothing” hero. Her world is the all too real world of Times Square, and the people who pass through her world are as deceptively charming a group as ever swept across any stage. From her cynical posse of girlfriends at the dance hall, to the phony evangelist, the Coney Island “fun people”, the Central Park “strollers” and the YMHA “self-improvers,” every character is interesting. This is a bright and sophisticated comedy. Wonderful musical numbers include “Big Spender,” “If My Friends Could See Me Now,” “There’s Gotta Be Something Better Than This,” and “I’m a Brass Band.”
